The client of this south facing London garden, called me to re-design their planting. The previous design was formal and the palette was mainly whites and greens. My design was more naturalistic, filled with grasses and dainty flowers in pastel pinks, whites and purples that gently move in the breeze. I added an Amelanchier Lamarkii in a bed close to the house to add height and volume to the space and to make the eye journey through the garden. In the previous design the eye went straight to the back of the garden guided by a cluster of gorgeous Annabelle hydrangea skipping everything in between. I also suggested created a lounging area at the back of the plot where the shade makes it a more comfortable area to rest while looking back at the house.
